Jake

Jake is our new dog. Well, I guess we have had him for over a month now. In the past month our life has changed because of him. The patterns we had in the past (being able to sleep in, not worrying about when we are coming home, going on last minute weekend trips, ect.) have had to change to accommodate him. Now we are woken up every morning between the hours of 5 and 6 to take him out to do his business and go for a walk. After work, we have to make sure we are home to take him out and feed him. While he is a lot of work, overall he is a good dog.

This week we took him in to get fixed, well I took him to get fixed. When I picked him up he was so sad and pathetic due to all of the drugs that they gave him; however, he was so cute. His glazed over puppy eyes turned me into a softy and we even let him sleep on the couch.

I find it crazy that in just one month this dog has made an impact in our lives. Even though he adds more responsibility and work on a day-to-day basis, he makes us happy. It is fun to come home to him and know that he is always ready to play. My favorite thing though is watching him play with the laser toy Randy got him. It is actually a cat toy that as a rotating laser that shines on the ground, but he loves to chase it. Now, at any point I can yell, "get it" and he instantly starts to look for the laser. Randy thinks it is kind of mean, but I think it is hilarious.

While Jake frustrates me at times (like today when he chewed up the inside of my Uggs) I cannot imagine us not having him. So welcome to the family Jake and I still love you even though you wake me up at 5 every morning.

Hello

For those of you that are unaware, this is not my first blog. My first blog was written over a two year period while I lived in China. Since a lot happened in China and I wanted to keep my friends and family up to date on my happenings, I figured it was the easiest way. While I lived in China, my life was exciting; everyday was a new adventure. Although I had a full time job (I was a teacher), there was plenty of time for adventures and traveling. Shanghai, China is a place that words cannot describe, so I tried to with a blog and pictures.

As I returned back San Diego from China my blog ceased. I figured that my life was brought back to normalcy and that the adventures ceased. The reality is that this is not entirely false. Being back in the States brought me back to the 9-5 grind. My traveling has become more sparse and the adventures are not as prevalent, but I realized that sometimes boring is not bad.

Today I decided to read my China blog and became motivated to start another one, this time about my life in San Diego. My life is pretty ordinary. I live with my boy friend Randy and our dog Jake. I have a corporate job that I enjoy, but does not leave me with as much time off as when I was in China. We have our friends and family that we hang out with when we are not working and that keeps us pretty busy. And so I embark on writing about what would be considered a "normal" life. I hope you enjoy the tales that i am about to tell, even if they are seeminly ordinary.
